Why were you digging? / What did you bury / Before those hands pulled me / From the earth?
The idea of being planted, pulled from the earth and born anew as some kind of fae spirit has always haunted this song for me. Someone stumbles upon a strange flower and like the fairy tales of old pulls a whimsical creature from the earth. It might be a surface look at the intended meaning of the song, but it’s what I see.
